Our Plenary speaker for tonight is Mr. Ronrick Da-ano, PhD. Looking at his credentials, it is overwhelming. BS Math in his undergraduate, MS Stat and MS Applied Math in his graduate studies, then specializing in Machine Learning for doctoral degree and post-doctoral.

I have acquainted myself in Data Science and Machine Learning after graduating BS Math but I have to stop since I cannot focus doing both teaching in public high school and not being able to practice the use of programming language with limited resources. My interest in statistics and machine learning still lingers and maybe I could pursue it when the right time comes.

Here is Mr. Ronrick telling us to apply data science with the education industry. Make use of the big data that is available around us and in the Philippines.

Thriving as a success today means being data-driven.

Over the years, we witness how different industries adopt the latest technologies to increase or boost productivity. Among those are Data Analytics, Big Data, AI, ML, and Data Science and Machine Learning. For instance, what do tech– giants like Amazon, Netflix, and Uber have in common? They are data-first enterprises that adopt data-driven models to make better decisions based on data analytical insights. Today we are dealing with Data Science almost every day: from searching movies on a streaming platform to getting recommendations for whatever you are looking for on the Internet.

To ensure a community is ready to lead the industry, especially the education sector, explore recent trends in Data Science that will dominate the software development landscape in the near future.

Thank you Sir Sam for the opportunity to rekindle this Math and Stat interest in the higher aspect and be motivated to apply and utilize it in the development of the current curriculum.
